2002-08-05 2:28 p.m. It is impossible for the artist to be aware of the space their art fills in this world before they create it. So, for that reason, they look at the universe and think, "The world is complete, how does this world need what I make, since everything has been done already?" But, this is based on a mental lexicon of the PAST. Your unmade art is only in the FUTURE. So, of course you can not look at the present and see the huge gaping hole where your art should be. Your art does not exist yet, and in your mind there is no previous example of how to explain the shape of that hole, that emptiness. Why are we so faithless? We should have faith in the act of creating something. Plus, in hindsight peopleourselves includedwill surely look back and see how the universe needed what we did. But until the creation exists, they/we can not recognize the need. So we should go make art, and we should do it right away. PREVIOUS ENTRY - NEXT ENTRY |
