I stopped in Coalinga on my way to LA last weekend. There are oil derricks there that are painted like animals. It's weird. It's hokey. It's a beautiful example of 20th century American folk art right in my backyard.

Mmmm...CANCER!

It's not an oil derrick, but this is my favorite picture I took that day. The colors were so saturated and lovely.

The chief! Ah, who doesn't like a little native American stereotyping, right?

It's 2005, people. It's not a big deal. Just ask it whether it prefers "black" or "African American", ok?

Not sure what the hell animal this one is.
